"Take me on a trip upon your magic swirling ship", so goes the lyric of Bob Dylan's song Mr. Tambourine Man. A young man commented that he was high on drugs when he composed this song.It was a song without sense, he said; I disagreed. The young man said that he had read it in the internet that Dylan was into marijuana long time ago and that it was said so in the articles. I said, yeah that maybe partly true. But I told him I can relate to what Dylan was expressing for I sing the same prayer too.
"WWWhhhhhhaaaatt! A prayer? It is not a prayer, it is a song", said the young man. Well it is a prayer..a subtle prayer between a believer and his Lord. This is the truth. In a skeptical world, where if you use religious sounding words, people would be apathetic, Dylan had ingeniously hid his prayer and had also get the interest of many people. He was singing and praying a parable to his audience..and they had a hard time in nailing the meaning of the song.
I said it is my song and prayer too...
"Hey Mr. Tambourine Man (read: He who sets the tempo-the Lord Jesus Christ),
Play this last song for me (read: give me a chance to hear a last word from You and follow what You
say as Phil Keaggy sang, "True believers hangs on every word He said).....
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to (read: death have not
visited me yet and there is nothing here for me and limited on earth, nowhere to go)
....I know that evening's empire had returned into sand (read I know that the empires of
darkness are subject to decay and had decayed)
...But still not sleeping, my weariness amazes me, I,m grounded on my feet
and I have no one to meet and the ancient empty street too dead for dreaming
(read:...but death had not yet put me to sleep and I'm grounded on this earth... with death's as the only
future I have on earth...and I have not set an appointment to anyone else but You...You who have the
Words of Eternal Life!)...
I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to...fade into my own parade
(read:I'm ready to follow You anywhere even to fade into my own death parade)
Cast Your dancing spell my way, I promise to go under it!
....Let me ride upon Your Magic Swirling Ship...
